re: "Killing the Golden Goose"

Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna ("At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. We are in a new phase of a very old war.") made some interesting points about Islam being an "Evolutionary Stable System" or ESS.

Money quote(s):

"(B)ecause the system is parasitic — it produces no wealth, but depends on booty, slave labor, and tribute to maintain itself — the environment must eventually change. When the host dies, so does the parasite. The ESS fails, and Islam reaches a dead end."

Though BB is capable of smooth language, the concept is basically flawed.

The notion that the historical environment that Islam was founded in is the dominating factor and thus the potential downfall is simply incorrect.

GoV and BB continue to fall for the agenda-based falicy that the word (and deeds) of radicals, ultra-conservatives and thelogical based clerics represents the faith of Islam and the Muslm people. It simply does not.

Over 56 countries, 1.6 billion people subscribe to a religion and most just get on with their lives and the subject of poverty, corruption and extremism comes with global-geo politics and not the religion.

For your information, I am retired diplomat of 22 years service and with a great many friends in the US State Department including close family whim married into and even latered joined it.

I have a great deal of respect for the hard work and effort of the foreign service, be it the political reporting and representation that I was involved in as well as the consular efforts to ensure the correct amount of rights and care for the citizens of one's country.
