Neo-Neocon ("to tell the tale of my political change and provide a forum for others") doesn't seem inclined to discount malice as the motive.*

Red Licorice and Jujubes is currently stationed in Honduras, and she's been fairly open about how she views the coup and how contrary the reality is to the Obama administration's reaction to the coup. Either the folks higher up the foodchain are blowing smoke at Washington, or Washington is ignoring the embassy.
