If you're interested in driving across the border to Montreal or cruising to the Caribbean but don't want the hassle and expense of a passport, consider using a passport card instead.
Read the whole article here.
Snippet(s):
"The card is issued by the State Department to help speed border crossings by US citizens traveling to Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
Starting this June, all travelers will need to show proof of citizenship and identity when crossing the US border by land or sea."
&
"Remember that it's good for land and sea travel only.
That means flying into Cancun on your next getaway to Mexico will require an actual passport.
No airports will accept the passport card going in and out of the country.
But it does fulfill the valid ID necessary for domestic travel."
