re: "Mosque Makeovers Overseas -- Funded By U.S. Taxpayers"

Amy Alkon at The Advice Goddess ("syndicated advice columnist, journalist, author and blogger ") voiced a reasonable critique.

Money quote(s):

"(F)unding mosques (run by extremists in Egypt, for the most part) shows weakness, it does not "build bridges," as the State Department claims."

Given all the different things we can reasonably aid and assist with funding in a Third World country like Egypt, are mosques really the smartest choices?

re: "Random Thoughts"

Frank J. at IMAO ("Unfair. Unbalanced. Unmedicated.") managed a coherent, if random, thought.

Money quote(s):

"Mosques seems like a separate issue from religious freedom because you don’t usually worry about churches being full of terrorists. But they’re not. Just wish we had a bit more extremism intolerance when it came to Islam. Hurts good Muslims when we tolerate bad. Like the guys behind the Ground Zero mosque; they had enough extremism links that they should have been shunned from polite society."

re: "Our barbarian allies kill UN workers in Kabul"

Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive ("the paratrooper of love") says no to submission.

Money quote(s):

"There are those who believe that their religion supersedes all earthly existence. They are willing to kill you if you simply disagree with them, and they claim the right to be free from offense by everyone else on the planet. They are not a simple minority hiding on the fringes of Muslim society. They are running the mosques, they are indoctrinating their flock, they are inculcating hatred, racism, xenophobia and they are directly inciting murderous violence.

Their demand is simple.......Submit. We can either do so, or we need to resist. I reject the right of anyone to claim they can choose to limit my freedoms based on their personal religious beliefs."
